Anniversary Trip - Durango Colorado

Marc and I celebrated 7 years of marriage on August 17th. The weekend before, the two of us traveled to Durango, Colorado for a mini-trip. We headed out after I left work on Thursday night and stayed in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The next morning we ate breakfast at the neatest place that I saw about on Food Network, called The Chocolate Maven. It is actually a bakery, and you can eat your breakfast while watching the baking in action through a huge window! I had banana walnut pancakes (yummy!) and Marc had the "manly" Ranchero Breakfast.
After breakfast we hit the road to Durango. We drove through the most beautiful mountains you have ever seen. One thing we noticed, is remote mountain folk don't really care if they are messing up God's scenary with their JUNK! (Sorry no pic!)After arriving in Durango we drove to the ski mountain, went up on the ski lift and road the Alpine Slide back down. SOOOO fun.....I could have stayed there all evening. Then, that night we dressed up and went out on our anniversary date at a fancy restaurant on Main Street called 'Seasons.' We enjoyed salad, steak, potatoes and even a little wine. =)The next day we road the train to Silverton......my absolute favorite part of the trip. What BEAUTIFUL country. AND, this country was not jaded with JUNK!
(This is a private lake half-way up the mountain. SO beautiful....and to think that one man has it all to himself!)
On Sunday it was back in the car and back to Lubbock. What a fun trip!

Ooooh, that looks so nice! My parents just spent a week near Buena Vista, CO and are headed back home tomorrow. So jealous.
